Paul is on the move again at work and getting set to start doing some producing for the Commercial Department. The real point is that BlueCircle has this young and dynamic group of Commercial insurance brokers who are itching to build their book of business and make some great things happen in this area. What’s my role? Well, since we moved our office to this great little industrial/commercial neighbourhood, we were reminded so much of what really makes the business world in Calgary go round. Yes, we have some major players out there in the oil and gas industry, as well as other movers and shakers, but it;s the thousands and thousands of small businesses that populate areas like ours that are the lifeblood of the business community. We recognize that and want to work with those people.
Our thought is that ‘we’ve planted ourselves in the neighbourhood and now we want all of us to grow together” so I’m going to do the old school thing and knock on some doors, meet some people and introduce them to BlueCircle. We’re a different breed of cat, that’s for sure, and we believe in being hands on and personal. We know our clients value great service, which is why we’re growing based strictly on being a referral only business. We plan on having our Commercial Department provide the same awesome service and coverage as our Motorcycle and Personal Lines
Away from work I have quite a few interests, with my family being at the centre of it all. I’ve been married for 36 years, have two great children and we’re new grandparents to a beautiful bouncing baby boy, so our future promises to be busy and joyful. We’ve always been an outgoing and outdoorsy family and love to hike, bike, camp, and travel. We’re all into fitness and workout on a daily basis, with my own interests currently being in training for a triathlon. That’s a daily commitment but there’s times when I enjoy playing badminton and squash, mountain biking and rock climbing. I have always had an interest in photography and at one time carried a lot of gear with me, as well as having my own dark room and lab in my basement. Now I pack a slightly smaller camera but still enjoy capturing moments in time.
Since I’m getting a bit long in the tooth, I feel we need to enjoy some travels abroad while we are still agile and mobile. Our most recent world adventure was to Turkey, and a short visit to Mexico as well, with trips through China and India prior to those expeditions. We are doing some travels in Canada too, with a sea kayaking adventure, plus heading to the U.K. to man our own 45’ canal boat and see ‘olde’ England and Scotland from the perspective of their historical waterway system.
I enjoy riding my Harley Davidson Street Glide and also like to spend time with my wife, family, and friends at our camp up near Rocky Mountain House, where we keep some old vintage Airstream trailers. I live by the motto “Life is a journey, not a destination”. Enjoy your life every day, and let the people around you know how much you love them as often as you can, for you never know when your time will come to an end.
